TOK EXHIBITION IS CRITERIA ORIENTED

WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BROKEN DOWN THE CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING EFFECTIVE OBJECTS

The TOK exhibition, which accounts for 33% of your grades, is an integral part of the Diploma Program. It's internally assessed but externally moderated to ensure fairness and consistency. The purpose of the exhibition is to evaluate your ability to apply TOK concepts to real-world situations. Here's a breakdown of the process:

Step 1: Choose the IA prompt and select three objects/images:

  • Select one of the prescribed IA prompts from the provided list. The prompt must be used exactly as given, without alterations.
  • Consider how the chosen prompt relates to TOK themes like knowledge and the knower, knowledge and technology, etc.
  • Choose three objects or images that relate to the selected prompt. These objects should all be related to the same prompt and have a clear real-world context.
  • Objects can be physical or digital, but they must have a meaningful context and connection to the prompt.
  • Keep track of potential objects/images that you encounter during TOK lessons or in your daily life, ensuring they are relevant to knowledge and its applications.

Step 2: Prepare the document for marking and moderation:

  • Create a single file containing the content of your TOK exhibition.
  • The document should include:
    • A title identifying the selected IA prompt.
    • Images of the three objects or their representations.
    • Typed commentary on each object, including:
      • Identification of the object.
      • Explanation of its specific real-world context.
      • Explanation of how the object links to the chosen IA prompt.
      • Justification for including the object in the exhibition.
    • Proper referencing and citations for all objects/images used.

Step 3: Showcase the exhibition:

  • This stage is not formally assessed but provides an opportunity to share your work with others.
  • Showcase your exhibition within your school community, to other TOK students, parents, or visitors.
  • Consider hosting a physical or virtual exhibition to present your work.

Word count and other formalities:

  • The total word count for the document is 950 words, excluding references, bibliographies, footnotes, acknowledgments, and text on the objects/images themselves.
  • Objects can be physical or digital, but digital objects must be correctly referenced.
  • Teachers can provide guidance but cannot edit the document.
  • The exhibition should be based on themes discussed in class, and it's recommended to complete it in the first year of TOK teaching.
  • All work must be individual and your own, with a clear demonstration of your understanding of TOK concepts and their application to real-world scenarios.

Following these steps and guidelines will ensure the successful completion of your TOK exhibition, contributing significantly to your overall grades in the Diploma Program.
